"Just a small note to thank you very much for the superb job you did on our house. The addition and remodeling changed our house completely. We are extremely pleased."

Custom Homes.     Renovations.     Additions.

About Us

Growing up in a family of home builders, Rich Russell started to learn about residential construction at a very early age.  Working summers for his Grandfather and Father, plus a four year apprenticeship with a carpenter contractor, Rich started to gain the knowledge necessary to become a Custom Home Builder and Renovator.   “To become a successful builder, surround yourself with the very best people you can find, these words spoken by my grandfather many years ago, still ring true today.

Graduating from Taylor University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and earning his builders license from the State of Michigan, Rich purchased a couple of lots, built a house on speculation, and began what is today The Russell Company.

While building custom homes one at a time for individual clients, Rich and his father also developed some of the old estates along Lake Shore Road in Grosse Pointe.  In 1982, The Russell Company formed an alliance with Henry Ford II by developing the Roy Chapin and Richard Webber Estates into Windemere Place Condominium.  Several subdivisions and 30 years later, The Russell Company has built over 175 new homes and renovated a number of others throughout the Grosse Pointes, Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills.

Building a new home is about the biggest financial and emotional investment a client will make in their lifetime.  To turn your “dream” into reality, we have assembled a professional team of architects, designers, subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the highest quality of workmanship and durability of material are employed during the construction process.

Each project starts with a client approved construction schedule and construction budget.  The Result:  A new or renovated home that you will be proud of for years to come.  Every project is covered by our two-year limited warranty, and our promise to respond quickly to any need that may arise.

Having been in business for more than 33 years, we know the angst that can go along with constructing a new home and the commotion associated with remodeling or renovation of an existing home.  That’s why we concentrate on making the process as easy as possible.  Every member of our team is committed to keeping the workplace neat and clean, creating as little interference to the homeowner as possible.
